FAQ

1. What is a Fermat Marketplace?

Fermat Marketplace is our new way of delivering value to you, our customers, by allowing you to buy and sell your machine through an online auction system designed specifically for metalworking machinery and professional metalworking machinery users.

2. How does it work?

Simply register, wait for a confirmation from our team and your can start participating in our online auctions. Want to sell a machine? Simply fill out our quick online form and one of our team members will get in touch with you regarding your machine.

3. How are we different?

We are different by entirely focusing on what we know the best - Metalworking Machinery. We hope that this narrow focus cultivated during our 30 years in this business will allow our colleagues to make your experience with Fermat Marketplace a one to remember. Our targeted audience will be companies just like yours - users of Metalworking Machinery. Last but not least, to deliver more value to you, our customer, we decided not to charge the buyer any auction fees which has been a standard practice on other auction portals.

4. Can I list my own machine for an auction?

Absolutely! Just fill our short request form and one of our experienced colleagues will contact you to discuss all the necessary details with you. If you are not sure about the technical condition of your machine, we can offer an inspection by one of our experienced technicians. A machine such inspected will get a "Fermat 100% Certified" banner that acknowledges listed technical condition of your machine.

5. How can I bid?

After your registration is confirmed, you are free to start placing bids. You can place bids either manually, or you can set up an automated bidding agent that will automatically keep placing bids for you in case you are outbidded, until your maximal price you are willing to offer is reached.

6. What is a minimal price?

A minimal price was set by the seller. It represents the minimal price for which the seller is willing to let his machine go. In case you win an auction without reaching the minimal price, we will inform the seller of your winning bid anyway. The seller will then have a few days to decide whether they are willing to accept your offer or not.

7. Who will organize the transport of my machine?

Generally, the buyer is responsible for organizing the transport of the machine. However, upon request we will be more than happy to assist in organizing shipping of your auctioned machine.

8. Will the machine come with full technical documentation?

In our experience, the machines usually come with technical documentation such as manuals, drawings etc. However, as this can not be guaranteed, we recommend contacting us and we will check it for you upon request.

9. How much time do I have to collect my auctioned machine?

We generally do not have a fixed timeframe as we believe that this question has to be approached on a case by case basis by finding a time frame that works both for the old and the new owner of the machine.

10. Who will cover the dismantling and loading costs of my auctioned machine?

The scope of who will cover the dismantling and loading of the machine can vary on a case by case basis. The product card of this machine will specify this information. In case you will need a more precise estimate, please contact us and our team will assist you.

11. What does "Make an Offer" mean?

Before the auction goes live, you will be able to make an offer for the machine. If the price that you offered will be satisfactory for the seller, you would acquire the machine before the auction starts and the machine would be de-listed from the auction.
